Theme: Back to School(Bus)/Family
8:45-9:00 Arrival
* Familiarize children with classroom
* Children choose a center of their choice to explore
9:15-9:35 Welcome & Circle Time
* Welcome Name Song/Discuss "Back to School Time of Year"
* Pledge of Allegiance
* Classroom Rules with puppet dramatization
* Weather Song/Calendar and Activities
* Wheels on the Bus
* ABC song (Assess individual children's conceptual knowledge base and familiarity of letters)
9:35-9:55 Fine Motor/Language Arts/Math:
* Cutting Practice Activity
* "Time to Rise" Poem by Robert Louis Stevenson ("..a birdie with a yellow bill")
* Wheel Sequence: Have the children sequence wheels from largest to smallest. Car Dice Roll Activity. Roll a die and count the dots. Then color in that number of dots on your car. Keep playing until all the dots on your car are colored in.
9:55-10:10 Wash Hands/SnackTime:
As a class we will participate in a cool cooking activity today (this does not always involve actual cooking, but often involves making fun snacks). On these days, your preschooler is welcome to bring their snack from home to eat (and they can save and take home their snack we make), or they can opt to not bring a snack that day and eat the snack we prepare instead.

10:10-10:30 Large Motor Play/Outside Time:
Hopefully the weather is beautiful this day and the children have an opportunity to explore all of the fun things outside in our play area.
10:40-11:20 Weekly Themed Literature/Craft Time:
Oh My Baby Little One by Kathi Appelt. Book Activity: After discussing the story with the children, I will put a heart sticker on each child's hand. This helps preschool children to remember that Mom or Dad loves them. If they are anxious later in the day, I remind them to look at their sticker and put it up to their cheek. We will introduce the theme of families and trees through books and discussion.
Craft: Today's art project we will start today and finish next week.
*Finger-painting our Family Tree
11:20-11:35 Learning Centers: Children choose from rotating centers (see prior post for a list of possible centers) of their choice, while Miss Tara continues to facilitate socialization and learning.
*Depending on interest level, help kids make a bus with classroom chairs, steering wheel and change envelope in Dramatic Play Center.
11:35-11:45 Prep for Dismissal:
* Review and Discussion time
* Sing songs (ABC song, and Wheels on the Bus)
* Prep for Dismissal
